Sheerness on Sea, home of a former Royal Naval Dockyard (1669 - 1960) and now busy commercial port boasts significant maritime history and seaside heritage. As a traditional seaside and market town , just look a bit closer and you'll find a wide range of shops, with a good mix of independents sitting alongside national chains.

Friendly local retailers, new eateries, cafes and coffee shops complimented by the market in Rose Street every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the year make Sheerness Town Centre a welcoming place for visitors to shop and pick up that souvenir or weekly shop.

The Town Centre hosts seasonal events including the annual Sheppey Summer Carnival and Christmas Lantern Parade, adding to the cultural and heritage offer at Rose Street Cottage of Curiosities, Sheppey Little Theatre and near by Blue Town Heritage Centre (home of The Criterion Music Hall and Cinema).

Get fit at Sheppey Leisure Centre and take a dip in the adjacent indoor swimming pool in the town, or stroll along the promenade looking out towards the WW2 wreck of the Richard Montgomery and the Maunsell Forts, towards Bartons Point Coastal Park enjoying the Blue Flag and Seaside Award beaches in Sheerness and at Minster Leas where you can enjoy some tasty treats in The Sweet Hut. Look out for the water sports and the annual Round the Island Yacht Race from the Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club on Marine Parade.
