The only question is, will your kids ‘bee’ coming along to join us?
Orchard Activity: Bee Walk
Spring is in full swing here in the beautiful orchards of the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale Farm, so we’re going on a bee hunt. The only question is, will your kids ‘bee’ coming along to join us? Late Spring is one of the most beautiful and exciting times of year in the orchard with the bountiful, bright blossom, buzzing with happy bees!
Why not encourage the kids to take advantage of the sights, sounds and smells of this time of year by taking a walk with us through the blossom? We’ll be exploring to see what bees we can find busy visiting our fruit blossom and pollinating the flowers to make our delicious fruit.
Once you have found some bees and looked at where they are happiest, why not take some time to visit our exhibition which is all about bees. You can see what it feels like to be a bee, perhaps make your own bee or look inside a hive and find where the honey is made.
Then finish your ‘beetiful’ day by having a go at creating your own pollinator-friendly mini wildflower patch to take back to your green space and share the joys of bee watching with your family. Who knows, maybe you’ll spot some of the same bees visiting your mini garden as you saw in our orchards.
Brogdale is a large open space, and hence, if people behave responsibly, they can enjoy the fresh air and the orchards whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines. Our priority will be to ensure you have a safe visit, so we require all visits to be pre booked.
Brogdale has unlimited free parking, accessible toilets and a café.
