David has worked in horticulture since 1974 and been involved in many different areas including landscaping and producing salad crops. Previous to working in Grow at Brogdale, David worked at East Malling Research Centre growing and propagating fruit for scientists. He has now been at Brogdale for 6 years, propagating fruit trees from the National Fruit Collection for retail customers. David has plenty of experience in teaching grafting and started teaching our courses (Brogdale Collections) in 2013.

“Just wanted to say a quick thank you for the course in January.

On my return to France I grafted 25 trees including some grafts form my reine de reinette which my geese had de-barked. 23 have taken! Of the two that didn’t one was a poor scion wood (brown when it arrived_ and the second was beginners poor grafting.

I’m planning another 25 verities for next year and phase two of my orchard.

So glad I came on the course, I saved my original tree (in some way) and now a tree orchard tree memorial orchard is in the making. It really opened up a whole new world to me. Thank you!”
