What's On Guide 2023

28th March - 31st December 2023

Faversham hosts a packed calendar of events throughout the year, the main headline events and regular annual festivals are shown in our 2023 What's On Guide.

Faversham - Kent’s Market Town of Kings

Faversham, the oldest market town in Kent and recorded in the Domesday Book, is packed with history and located on a winding creek. Faversham is also home to Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer, and takes pride in its continuing association with the Cinque Ports Confederation. Faversham still has the charter issued by King Henry III that confirms the Town’s status as a Cinque Port.

With an amazing array of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and bars with a reputation for fine food, fascinating places to visit, stunning countryside with great opportunities for walking, Faversham is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a short break.
Housed in the Town Hall at 12 Market Place, the Visitor Information Centre should be the first stop on your visit to Faversham. The staff are all local volunteers with excellent knowledge of the area and a wealth of maps, books, postcards and locally made gifts are for sale.

As well as a range of self guided town walks, there are a suite of nature trail walks around the local countryside and villages to suit all abilities of walkers. Historic Faversham guided walking history tours start from the Visitor Information Centre every Saturday from April to September - email for details at walks@favershamsociety.org.

Faversham’s main market runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays every week selling a wide range of local produce. ‘Best of Faversham Arts, Crafts and Food Market’ is on the 1st and 3rd Saturday each month, with ‘Faversham Antiques and Vintage Market’ on the 1st Sunday of every month.

There is open air and indoor swimming all year round at Faversham Pools, and the Royal Cinema is an independently run, traditional cinema. Take time to stroll down to the creek and visit Standard Quay, which boasts one of the oldest warehouses in Britain, and visit its shops and businesses located in creekside buildings.

The surrounding countryside is dotted with pretty villages offering plenty to do; Brogdale is home to the National Fruit Collection, and Macknade is one of the country’s leading food halls. Explore and enjoy country houses and gardens - Belmont House and Gardens, Mount Ephraim and Doddington Place Gardens.
