A Night Out In Faversham
7th December 2021
You don’t have to go far to have a good night out with friends and family over Christmas and the New Year – there’s so much going on right here in Faversham!
If you’re looking for entertainment, the Alexander Centre is a good place to start – between now and Christmas there’s a packed programme of music, with everything from jazz, groove and tribute acts including George Michael, Pink Floyd and Little Mix.
There’s a great local music scene in Faversham too – you can enjoy pizza, cocktails and live acts at Papa Bianco in Standard Quay on Wednesdays and Fridays, and the nearby comedy club, What Now at Baltic House, has regular events.
Open mic nights and local acts are always popular at The Market Inn and there’s a regular folk night at The Limes . Other pubs with great music offerings include the Bear and the Railway Hotel.
If beer is your drink, you’ll be spoiled for choice in this brewery town – visit The Elephant and Furlongs micropub for an interesting ale and cider menu that changes regularly.
If wine is more your thing, Vino wine shop opens in the evenings – pick a bottle from the shelves to drink there or take home.
As well as being a great place for coffee, French bar Castella, in the market place, offers wine, pastis, spirits, charcuterie and beers until 8pm, served by the charming Eric and Christophe. It’s a great place to start your evening. In Preston Street, Jittermugs café becomes a Mediterranean restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings – why not pop in for some tapas before seeing a film?
One of the hidden gems of Faversham is the independent Royal Cinema – this ‘Tudorbethan’ treasure gets all the latest films, and shows them in an auditorium that will take you right back in time!
Did you know Faversham also has its own theatre? The Arden, next to the swimming pool, presents The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe through December.
Of course, it’s not a real night out without a good meal, and Faversham caters for all tastes and cuisines – check out California Cravings at Saddlers for great Mexican food, Maypole for Thai food, Papa Bianco and Posilippo for pizza and Italian food, and Faversham Kebab House for great Turkish food to eat in or take away.
Pubs with a reputation for great food include The Sun, The Quay, The Anchor and The Phoenix – check out their menus online and don’t forget to book at this busy time of year.
