Shop Local Legacy as Faversham's First Fiver Fest Heralded A Success

Some shops continue to provide offers following the successful Fiver Fest in Faversham

Faversham’s first Fiver Fest has officially ended and organisers have declared it a great success. Over 60 local businesses took part offering special deals and promotions to thousands of shoppers and customers for a fiver.

Fiver Fest is a nationwide initiative created by a group called Totally Locally. A team of volunteers from Faversham – who also run the InFaversham town website – organised the local campaign in order to help businesses work together and encourage people to shop local and support Faversham.

Nicky Reader, who co-ordinated the initiative, says “When I heard about the Fiver Fest idea, I thought it would be fantastic for Faversham. With only a month to get it up and running, we thought we would start small this year, but we’ve been amazed at how many businesses embraced the campaign and got involved. There were some great offers for customers and hopefully Fiver Fest Faversham has encouraged many people to try different shops and businesses.”

The campaign has been such a big success, that organisers are hoping to organise another one in Spring 2021.
Fiver Fest Faversham was sponsored by Faversham letting agent William Property Management. Managing director Mark Greenwood says: “We were delighted to support this exciting new initiative for Faversham and over the moon to see so many businesses get involved. We hope that local shoppers and residents enjoyed the fabulous offers and promotions and it gave us great pleasure to help it happen.”

Swale Borough Council also supported the initiative by printing promotional materials.

Although Faversham Fiver Fest has officially ended, a number of participating businesses have decided to extend their special offers. For more details visit
