Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway (BWLR)

Announcement 21 June 2020: Cancellation of 2020 Season Open Days at Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway

"Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Covid 19 epidemic we have continued to carry out detailed reviews for future events at the railway during 2020. Although we had been hoping to re-open in August with our Classic Car Day, we very much regret that the decision has been taken to cancel this and all other open days for the remainder of 2020. Please note that entry payments sent in for the Classic Car Day have not been banked, however if you have any queries please let us know.

Our primary concern is for the safety of visitors, volunteers and staff and we feel that, despite the slight easing of lockdown, the risks are just too great. Social distancing would prove difficult to control on site, in the railway carriages and in the Tea Room and The Shop.

As a result of the limitations and restrictions that would be necessary, we feel visitors would not benefit from the full facilities we would normally have available. We hope that everyone will understand the dilemma we face and appreciate that to close for the remainder of the year was not an easy decision to make". End..

General Listing Information

Narrow gauge (2 foot) railway set in parkland with plenty of room to picnic and relax outdoors.  Trains run frequently throughout our open days and once you have entered the BWLR world all rides and activities are free.  A museum allows you to get up close to locomotives, tractors, cars and other exhibits.  A model railway usually runs in the museum which is a great attraction to children of all ages. Theme days include classic cars, old tractors, 1940's day, best dressed teddy etc.

A relaxing great day out for everyone.
