Faversham Markets

Faversham Charter Market opened gradually after the lockdown, with a minimal number of stalls selling groceries, household goods, fruit & veg and plants and comprehensive distancing measures in place.

We kindly ask our customers:
– not to visit the market if you are unwell or have any Covid19 symptoms
– to please follow the queue signs and maintain a 2m distance
– to use contactless credit cards where possible (although some traders still currently only take cash)
– to respect the Market’s rules which will be on display
– to return to the market at a later time if its busy when you arrive.

We are very carefully restarting the Market and we ask for your patience during this very usual time. Our priority is, of course, to take great care of the safety of our staff, traders and customers. We’re going to take this slow and steady  Keep well and stay safe.

Mentioned in the Domesday book and located in the heart of Faversham’s historic town centre, with it’s stilted Guildhall, town pump and medieval buildings as a backdrop, we are very proud of our market and it’s status as the oldest market in Kent.

Faversham’s Charter Market runs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays every week, selling a range of local produce, household items, plants, collectibles and other interesting bits and pieces.

We also have two monthly markets:

Best of Faversham Arts, Crafts and Food Market on the first and third Saturday of the month in Preston Street. It is renowned for the range and quality of its food and drink products and boasts a growing industry of locally made arts and crafts. The Best of Faversham art, craft & food market showcases this abundance of local talent and quality offerings.

Faversham Antiques and Vintage Market usually on the first Sunday of every month, except September. Note: This market has been suspended during the pandemic and hopes to return Autumn 2021. It is the only dedicated antiques and vintage town centre market in Kent. The market offers a wide range of vintage items including antiques, clothing, collectibles, jewellery, paintings and furniture. Many of Faversham’s lovely shops and eateries are also open.

The majority of wares on sale at the market are products or produce within a 15 mile radius of Faversham – local things created by local people. Head along to discover traditional, local shopping at its best!

During the pandemic many of our market traders and artisans have moved online, some of which are featured on Faversham Unlisted, an online concept store for lovers of local who want to champion life on the North Kent Coast without compromising on style or quality. With beautifully curated items from the very best artisan craft makers and retailers, discerning shoppers can browse and buy with ease, knowing they’re helping breathe life back into the place they call home.
