Minster Gatehouse Museum
Covid Opening Announcement - Saturday and Wednesday Afternoons from July 25th
"Slowly slowly, easy does it. Following a very restricting few months, which have forced us to close the Minster Gatehouse Museum entirely, arrangements have now been put in place to open the door to the Museum. As I’m sure everyone will understand there will be restrictions on entry, such as the monitoring of the amount of people and we have devised a one way system around the Museum. We have to ask that nobody handle the artefacts for obvious reasons. And very sadly at this moment in time the viewing area on the roof is out of bounds. There is hand sanitiser available on entry. A card reader can be used at the door on entry but if that is not convenient then cash must be the correct money as change cannot be given. As is the case in any shop situation masks or face covers are mandatory in the Museum.Social distancing does apply and volunteers will be there to monitor visitors progress around the Museum and answer any questions.
Please take notice of the volunteers instructions.
The Minster Gatehouse Museum opening days will be limited to Saturday afternoons and Wednesday afternoons for the foreseeable future.
It is the Museum Committees intention to make sure anyone visiting the Gatehouse is perfectly safe, so, please bear with us and understand the limitations the Covid 19 has forced us to apply. -----Thanks".
Minster Gatehouse Museum is housed in a 1000 year old grade 1 listed building adjacent to the historic Minster Abbey. Local artefacts with connections to the Isle Of Sheppey, fossils and a view from the roof are just some of the attractions. Displays of the beginning of aviation, floods on Sheppey and Dickens' connection to the island are among a wealth of local items in this little treasure house.
Saturdays and Wednesdays 2pm - 4.30pm
Regrettably because of the age and size of the building, the museum is not suitable for disabled persons.
