Step into the peaceful surroundings of Belmont House and take time to be inspired by the seasonal beauty for this linocut workshop.
Your tutor, Rachel, will guide you through the linocut process with a live demonstration, followed by a walkthrough of the carefully selected foliage and flora from our Head Gardener. Guiding you through basic design principles, Rachel will help you turn your sketches into a final composition. Whether you craft your own unique design or opt for one of our pre-made templates, you’ll learn transfer techniques, understand image reversal, get hands-on carving your tile, and conclude by inking and hand-printing your linocut.
All materials, printing equipment, and light refreshments are provided. Just remember to bring along an apron or painting shirt, as well as a sketchbook and pencils. Our easy-carve postcard-sized linocut tiles (approximately 15cm x 10cm or 6” x 4”) make this workshop ideal for beginners or those seeking a refresher. Once cleaned and dried, your linocut tile can be taken home and used to print again.
