Boots On Adventures Outdoor Skills Session Learn how to read a map, use a compass, and navigate with confidence in the Kent countryside.

 Join Boots On Adventures for a hands-on navigation skills session in Bredgar, Kent, designed specifically for adults who want to build confidence outdoors in a relaxed, supportive environment.

👉 Small group | Practical learning | No experience needed Location & Meeting Point Bredgar Village Hall Before heading to: Bredgar Farm Shop for a relaxed introduction (optional drinks available, not included), then out into the surrounding countryside for practical navigation training.

💷 Price £45 per person Maximum group size: 6 participants Advance booking required About This Navigation Course in Kent If you’ve ever wanted to explore the outdoors but felt unsure about map reading or navigation, this session is designed for you. This is a beginner-friendly navigation course in Kent, focused on real-world, practical skills—not classroom theory. You’ll spend the majority of the session outdoors, learning step-by-step how to navigate using a map and compass, with guidance from an experienced instructor. By the end of the session, you’ll feel more confident heading out on your own walks.

What You’ll Learn During this outdoor navigation session, you will learn: How to read and understand an Ordnance Survey (OS) map Recognising key map symbols and landscape features How to orientate a map to match the ground Following footpaths and identifying correct routes Introduction to using a compass Making simple navigation decisions Planning a short walking route All skills are taught through hands-on practice in the countryside

How the Session Works

1. Meet & Introduction We begin with a relaxed meet-up and optional coffee at Bredgar Farm Shop, where we introduce the session and get familiar with maps.

2. Learn by Doing We head out into the fields and footpaths around Bredgar, starting practical navigation straight away.

3. Build Confidence You’ll take turns leading short sections, making decisions, and applying your new skills in real time. This session is designed so you leave thinking: “I can actually do this myself.”
