Background to Boxing...

Boxing is an activity that takes part in a 'Ring' that is usually a platform raised off the ground with four corners connected by ropes; only the two participants are allowed within the 'Ring' during the activity or bout. Protective safety equipment is used to lesson the impact of the punches thrown.

As an activity only registered boxers can spar or compete based on their weight to ensure fair bouts, but the training can be done by anyone with numerous boxing related courses availabe in clubs and centres.

There are local, regional, national and international events and competions amateur boxers can take part in with the Olympic and Paralympic Games being the pinicle event. As well as the amateur side of the activity there are professional boxers that can also compete against others within their weight category.

COVID-19

All activities offered by clubs overseen by a National Governing Body will be required to adhere to new procedures to protect participants. England Boxing is working with Sport England to support providers to get back to activities.
