There’s something irresistible about the combination of summer, the seaside and wonderful music in the air. The Deal Festival is a unique celebration of all three – great classical and contemporary music from some of the world’s finest music-makers, as well as theatre, opera, cinema and dance – in the beautiful and historic surroundings of Deal and Dover on England’s south coast.
Deal Music & Arts has been bringing the best in arts and culture to East Kent for nearly 40 years, and in that time have welcomed many of the world’s greatest artists. Over those years, they have evolved from a summer festival to a year-round organisation that maintains that vibrant festival and supports a series of education programmes.
They bring the highest standards of artistic experience, supporting local and regional communities, and welcome artists of international stature. They present events in a range of locations, from historic castles and gardens to art galleries, from theatres to ancient churches, but their 10 day summer festival is a real cultural gem you can't miss.
This year the festival will be partnering up with brand new venues and collaborators to bring you the theme of French Connections, with special guest artists from France, a mini French film series and plenty of French music to create that festival buzz. Theatrical highlights this year include Shakespeare's Henry V from the grounds of Walmer Castle and a three-day French Film Festival set in the beautiful Linden Hall Studio, while musical highlights include The National Youth Jazz Orchestra Latin Collective and the Fidelio Trio at The Astor Theatre, Deal.
