Pumpkin picking is a staple activity for friends, couples and families to prepare for a spooktacular Halloween. With fields painted in a variety of fiery oranges, vivid yellows and deep greens, you pick your own size and style of pumpkin/squash and pay based on what you’ve picked!

We’re lucky to have some great PYO pumpkin sites in Swale, so here’s a round-up of where to get the very best pumpkins this Autumn:

Chilton Manor Farm, Sittingbourne

Chilton Manor Farm is a family farm and shop situated in the beautiful Kent countryside. They specialise in selling their own seasonally produced fruit and vegetables, with a great variety of pick your own produce. This Autumn, you can pick your own apples, pears, quince, blackberries and raspberries, as well as pumpkins of course!

When: Saturday 14th October, Sunday 15th October and then every day from Saturday 21st October until Halloween (unless they sell out!)

Erriot Wood Pumpkin Patch, Lynsted

Nestled in the picturesque Kent countryside, they have been farming at Erriot Wood for over 75 years. Following the success of last year’s trial pumpkin patch, Erriot Wood Pumpkin Patch was born. With a vast field full of weird and wonderful pumpkins and squashes for you to choose from, it’s sure to be a fun day out with your loved ones. Look out for the Scarecrows too – they’re all ready for the Scarecrow hunt!

When: Saturday 14th October, Sunday 15th October and then every day from Saturday 21st October to Sunday 29th October
Where: Kingsdown Road, Lynsted, Nr Sittingbourne, Kent, ME9 0JW
Cost: Tickets are £5 per car + any pumpkins/squashes that you pick on the day (purchase at the end of your visit)

Saffery Farm Pick Your Own Pumpkins, Faversham

This farm has been growing their own pumpkins for 35 years and decided it was about time to start offering visitors the chance to pick their own produce! Found down a little track in Selling, this pumpkin patch is surrounded by magnificent scenery and is a real hidden gem.

When: Every day from Saturday 21st October until Sunday 29th October, 10am-4pm
Where: Owens Court Road, Selling, Nr Faversham, Kent, ME13 9QN
Cost: £4 per car, paid on entry + pumpkins that are priced by size and start at £1

Brogdale Farm, Faversham

The Wonky Parsnip has teamed up with Kent Food Hubs to bring you a weekend of autumnal fun at Brogdale Farm. Over the weekend there will be PYO pumpkins, bouncy castles, paint your own pumpkin, miniature railway on the Sunday, tours of the National Fruit Collection and a Kentish Produce Market. If you’re looking for more than just pumpkin picking, Brogdale Farm is the place to be!

When: Saturday 21st October and Sunday 22nd October, 9.30am-4pm each day
Where: Brogdale Road, Faversham, ME13 8XZ
Cost: Pay for your pumpkins (vary in price) on the day + other activities you wish to do
